The Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a INR54 billion (US$652.54 million) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam limited (RVUNL) for the development of a 1,190 MW solar power plant in Bikaner district of Rajasthan, India.
The solar plant will be installed over an area of 4,846 ha of land. It is a part of 2,000 MW solar park developed by RVUNL and CIL in two phases of 810 MW and 1,190 MW respectively. The estimated cost of investment for the solar park is INR80 billion (US$965 million).
The solar park is approved under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's scheme of Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks. CIL will be responsible for the installation of the solar project whereas grid connectivity would be facilitated by RVUNL.
The construction of the solar facility is expected to begin within 24 months.
