The University of Canterbury (UC) has launched a Registration of Interest (ROI) tender for the development of the new Biomass Waste wood-fueled boiler plant to be installed in the existing Ilam Boiler House.

The work for the NZD15 million (US$10 million) project includes the design, supply and installation for the associated boiler plant and fuel handling equipment and the modifications and extension to the existing buildings that are required. The modified solution will consist of a new biomass boiler used in conjunction with the existing MTHW coal fired boiler plant.

The intent of this ROI process is to identify respondents that have had recent experience in the delivery of privately funded energy centers for public bodies (District Health Boards, local or central government, tertiary or other education providers) that are similar in nature, complexity, and value. The funding can take the form of Design, Build, Finance, Operate (DBFO); Build, Own, Operate (BOO); Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) or another form where private funding is used and forms part of the ongoing operational cost for the University.

Deadline for the submission of intents is on July 26, 2019.
