TuuliWatti Oy has selected Saft Groupe SA, a unit of Total SA, to provide lithium-ion (Li-ion) energy storage system (ESS) for the 21 MW Viinamäki wind project in Finland.
The company will deliver three Intensium Max 20 High Energy containers that will support the frequency regulation of the wind farm.
The Li-ion ESS has an energy storage capacity of 6.6 MWh that are split between three 2.2-MWh containers and delivers 5.6 MW of power for frequency regulation throughout its 15-year lifetime.
