The Government of Argentina through the Ministry of the Interior, Public Works and Housing has launched tender for the development of the 210 MW Portezuelo del viento hydropower project.
The facility will be developed in the south of the Province of Mendoza using the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) investment scheme.
The project is estimated to value about US$1-1.2 billion and is expected to generate enough power for about 12,570 homes.
The Ministry of Economy of Medoza has received more than 30 local and foreign companies interested in developing the project. Empresa Mendocina de Energía SA (EMESA) will be responsible for the marketing of the energy generated by the project.
