Tender issued for 40 MW Biomass Project in Namibia

NamPower has invited bids for the development of 40 MW Otjikoto biomass power station in Namibia.

The project is being developed by NamPower, Namibia's national power utility. The selected bidder will be responsible for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the power station that will be located on a 44-ha site near the town of Tsumeb. It will use biomass from encroaching bush and agricultural waste to generate electricity. The Otjikoto biomass power station is a significant development for Namibia's energy sector. It will help the country to achieve its renewable energy targets and reduce its reliance on imported electricity. The Biomass project is expected to be commissioned in 2024.

Proposals must be physically delivered by November 17, 2023. More information about this tender can be found on our Business Opportunity page here.
