Tata Power Co. Ltd has signed a 5-year 200 MW medium-term hydropower purchase agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVNL) to serve the projected peak demand in India. The deal will see NVVNL provide hydropower to Tata Power-DDL from May to September, commencing in 2023. The trading arm of Power NTPC Ltd specializes in the purchase and distribution of electricity.
Tata Power-DDL is one of the major electricity suppliers in the national capital, and through this partnership, it aims to expand its green energy portfolio by increasing renewable energy sources. The merger demonstrates the company's dedication to eco-friendliness by providing a diverse range of energy sources to its consumers while also satisfying rising energy needs.
In anticipation of the upcoming summer months, Tata Power-DDL has made sufficient provisions for a reliable and continuous supply of electricity. Load forecasting techniques are being implemented, and the battery energy storage system in the Rohini area would ensure adequate power supply to users during an emergency in the summer months. This agreement is a significant step towards accomplishing India's vision of adopting renewable energy and reducing fossil fuels overall dependence.
