Tanzania, Malawi to build 180 MW Songwe hydropower project

The Government of Tanzania and the Government of Malawi through the Joint Songwe River Basin Commission plans to develop the 180 MW Songwe Dam and Hydropower project in Songwe River located between the border of the two countries. 

In December 2018, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has provided a grant to for technical consultancy services for the development of the project. The facility will be implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) investment scheme.
