SunPower has agreed to sell its 233 MW solar portfolio which is scattered across some 200 sites in Texas, California, New York and six other US states to Goldman Sachs. SunPower owns the solar portfolio on a leased-basis from Wells Fargo Bank, PNC Bank, MetLife, Regions Bank, and SunTrust.
SunPower sets to divest the solar assets for US$86.9 million. The sale is a move by the company to trim down its structure and avoid possible bankruptcy.
The deal will now be subjected to approval by the relevant lessor in the aforementioned group.
