Statkraft A/S has filed for planning permission to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for the development of a 49.99 MW solar photovoltaic project that will be developed between the Northern England villages of Allerthorpe and Thornton.

The Soay Solar Farm project will have 'a Greener Grid Park', an energy facility that enables UK utility National Grid plc to accommodate more renewable power to its power network.

The Soay facility and Greener Grid Park will represent an estimated total investment of up to GBP125 million (US$169.3 million). Once the planning application is approved, Statkraft will start the construction in 2023.
