The joint partnership of government-owned generator Stanwell Corporation and Japanese industrial giant Iwatani Corporation has selected the industrial development zone of Aldoga in Central Queensland to host the 3 GW renewable hydrogen plant production facility.
The 236-hectare site at Aldoga that is located within the Gladstone State Development Area (SDA) was chosen because of its size and proximity to port and power and pipeline infrastructure for export-scale production.
Once operational, the project is expected to generate up to AUD4.2 billion (US$3.25 billion) in hydrogen exports and about AUD10 billion (US$7.5 billion) contribution to the state economy.
