SSE Renewables has started operations at its 28 MW Chaintrix-Bierges and Vélye Wind Farm located in the Department of Le Marne in the Grand Est region in France.
Renewable energy is now being generated from all eight of the Siemens Gamesa SG 3.4-132 turbines, each capable of producing 3.4MW of renewable energy output at the wind farm in the two communes of Chaintrix-Bierges and Vélye, in the Marne department in the Grand-Est region. Construction on the onshore wind project started in late 2023 and was led by lead contractor Omexom in partnership with civil local contractor Pothelet. The project was delivered on time and budget and saw a total capital investment of more than EUR 30 million (US$ 31.3 million) by SSE Renewables.
The wind farm became operational in February 2025 and Chaintrix is expected to operate for up to 35 years. European asset management company, Greensolver, will provide day-to-day operation and maintenance services for the wind farm when it enters commercial operation.
