Equinor and SSE Thermal have announced plans to jointly develop two low-carbon power stations in the Humber region, UK, comprising of one power station with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, and one hydrogen-fuelled power station. Both projects will support the UK’s transition to net zero and accelerate the decarbonization of the Humber region, as well as create thousands of skilled jobs. The two power projects are following:
Both projects will replace older, carbon-intensive generation on the electricity grid, providing flexible and efficient power to support intermittent renewable generation and maintain security of supply through the net-zero transition. The power stations are in the development stage and the companies will continue to engage the government, regulators and stakeholders.
