The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of Spain has awarded three renewable energy developers and an independent power producer (IPP) in a solar tender in Canary Island.
SolCan program aims to develop 65 solar photovoltaic assets with a combined capacity of 254.9 MW in Canary Island for a total investment of about EUR20 million (US$23.8 million). The program is supported by the Spanish government and the European Union and co-financed with FEDER Community Funds (SOLCAN) held in the Canary Islands.
Spanish utilities Iberdrola SA, Endesa SA, Naturgy Energy Group SA, and renewable energy developer Ecoener are awarded the development of 158.6 MW of combined capacity.
Naturgy secures the contract for the following projects:
Endesa, through its unit Enel Green Power España (EGPE), has secured the following projects:
Iberdrola, in partnership with engineering firm Ingeniería y Aplicaciones Solares and Energy Projects & Investment Capital (Energy Capital), awarded projects are all located in Fuerteventura:
Ecoener secured all of the 12 projects in Gran Canaria with a combined capacity.
The construction of all of these assets is expected to commence before the end of 2021.
