Sonnedix Japan has achieved commercial operation of the 40 MW Sonnedix Soma solar photovoltaic plant in Japan.
Located in the city of Soma, Fukushima prefecture, the plant is expected to produce 48,700 MWh of clean energy during its first full year of operation. This is the equivalent of powering more than 11,200 households, avoiding the emission of more than 23,700 metric tons of CO2 per year. The electricity generated by the solar plant will be sold through an 18.5-year plus Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The facility is the 9th large-scale solar PV project fully managed through the development, financing, and construction phase by Sonnedix Japan for the Sonnedix Group, and brings the operating capacity of the Sonnedix Group’s Japanese portfolio to 400 MW. The Sonnedix Soma PV plant is the third project in Japan to achieve commercial operation in 2022.
