Siemens Smart Infrastructure is partnering with grid network operator Zukunftsenergie Nordostbayern GmbH (ZENOB) for the development of a 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage project in Bavaria, Germany.
The battery storage project will be built in the Wunsiedel district and will store excess energy produced from renewable sources. Fluence will supply the lithium-ion batteries, while Siemens Smart Infrastructure will be in charge of the overall management, which includes the implementation of the technical concept, building medium-voltage switchgear, and the high-voltage grid connection.
The project is expected to support up to 20,000 average homes per year.
