KORE Power has selected Siemens to support the construction of a 12 GWh lithium-ion battery cell production facility, known as the KOREPlex, located in Buckeye, Arizona. The KOREPlex will address the increasing demand for battery cells due to the rise of electric vehicles and renewable energy applications.
Siemens will provide digital and automated solutions for the plant’s electrical infrastructure and energy management. It will also use its building management system to control environmental, security, and power systems. Furthermore, it will use cloud-based software to analyze data from the plant’s equipment and operations.
Siemens will also invest capital in the KOREPlex through Siemens Financial Services. The investment is part of a US$75 million private financing round for KORE Power. The plant is expected to be completed by early 2025 and will help meet the rising demand for battery cells.
