Shinfox Far East Energy has installed the first jacket foundation for a 300 MW Taipower Offshore Wind Farm Phase 2 (TPC-II) located about 20 km off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan.
The TPC-II is being developed by TPC, also known as Taipower. The company completed the 109.2 MW TPC phase I, which is also located offshore Changhua County, in November 2021. The combined power production of the two projects is expected to be more than 1.35 GWh. Phase II is expected to generate 1 GWh of power a year, catering to the annual electricity needs of 270,000 households. It is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 403,611 metric tonnes a year.
The jacket foundation, which offers sturdy support for the wind turbines, stands taller than a 20-story building and weighs more than 10 Boeing 747s. It is now positioned on the seabed of the wind farm, with installation being carried out by the crane vessel SFE Hercules.
