RWE AG has been awarded a contract following a competitive process to deliver the operations, service, and maintenance at the 630 MW London Array Offshore Wind Farm project in the UK.
The wind farm is located 20 km off the north Kent coast in the Outer Thames Estuary and consists of 175 turbines. London Array generates enough clean electricity to power around 500,000 British homes while displacing around 900,000 tonnes of carbon emission a year. It is maintained and operated from the Port of Ramsgate.
RWE is the largest investor in the project with a stake of 30%. The other investors include Ørsted A/S and investment group CDPQ each with a 25% interest, as well as UAE's Masdar with a 20% stake.
