Hellenic Cables has been selected by Van Oord Offshore wind UK ltd to supply inter-array cables and accessories for the 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.

It is being constructed over an area of approximately 593 sq km. The wind farm has the capacity to produce enough energy to power almost 1.2 million average UK homes and offset more than 2.5 million tons of carbon emissions per year.
Under the new contract, Hellenic Cables will design, engineer, manufacture, test and supply approximately 360 km of 66 kV XLPE-insulated inter-array cables and associated accessories. Cable production is set to begin in 2022 and will be completed in 2023.
