The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) of the government of Kuwait has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI) for private partners for the Al-Khairan phase 1 and Az-Zour North 2 and 3 Independent Water and Power Projects (IWPPs).
The scope of Az-Zour North 2 and 3 project is to design, build, finance and operate a power generation and water desalination plant using a gas turbine combined cycle technology with a net power capacity of around 2,700 MW and a net water capacity of 165 MIGPD. The plant will be the second phase of the IWPP Az-Zour North and will be located on the Az-Zour North site adjacent to the west boundary of the Az-Zour North 1 IWPP and to the North boundary of the existing Az-Zour South power complex, approximately 100 km south of Kuwait City on the Arabian Gulf coast.
Al-Khairan Phase 1 Project involves the design, construction, financing and operation of a gas-fired combine cycle power and desalination plant with a net power capacity of approximately 1,800 MW and a net water capacity of 125 MIGD. The plant will be located on the Al-Khairan site adjacent to the south boundary of the existing Az-Zour South power complex.
The submission deadline is Sunday Nov 18, 2018. The EOI process will be followed by a Request for Qualification phase to be announced at a later date.
