A subsidiary of state oil major Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), has invited companies to submit a letter of interest (LOI) for developing a planned 1GW solar energy development.
The 1GW Al-Dibdibah photovoltaic (PV) solar project planned at the Al-Shagaya renewable energy complex expects to receive LOIs submitted by the companies invited. The US’ Worley Parsons, which is the owner’s representative, is waiting for interested parties to submit LOIs.
2,500GWh of electricity generation per year is expected turning the Al-Dibdibah plant into one of the largest PV solar facilities in the region. According to sources, KNPC is hoping to begin the tendering process for the plant in July 2017.
