Repsol SA, a Spanish multi-energy company, announced that its 62.5 MW Jicarilla 2 solar plant in New Mexico, its first in the United States, has started producing electricity.
The photovoltaic (PV) park, which is built on Jicarilla Apache Nation land in Rio Arriba County, is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power 16,000 homes. The output of the facility will be sold by PNM Resources Inc.
At the same location, Repsol is constructing the 62.5 MW Jicarilla 1 PV park. The new facility, unlike Jicarilla 2, will incorporate a 20 MW battery storage system.
