Renalfa IPP, together with Solarpro Bulgaria, has repowered the Devnya PV Park from 5 MWp to 65 MWp and added a 60 MW/165 MWh co-located battery energy storage system (BESS) in northeastern Bulgaria.
Renalfa IPP has completed the repowering and hybridisation of the Devnya PV plant in northeastern Bulgaria. Originally commissioned in 2011 with a nominal capacity of 5 MWp, the facility has been upgraded to 65 MWp and integrated with a co-located battery energy storage system (BESS) rated at 60 MW/165 MWh. Solarpro Bulgaria served as the project manager and EPC contractor for the development.
The project forms part of Renalfa IPP’s broader strategy to maximise the utilisation of existing grid connections by integrating battery storage with its solar assets. The addition of the BESS is expected to improve the flexibility and value of the plant’s electricity production profile and support the sale of green baseload power products. The Devnya project follows the company’s repowering and hybridisation of the Kaolinovo PV park in northeastern Bulgaria, completed in November 2025. Kaolinovo was expanded from 10 MWp to 60 MWp and equipped with a co-located BESS with a capacity of 33 MW/110 MWh.
Renalfa IPP is an Austrian joint venture between Renalfa Solarpro Group, a clean energy and e-mobility company based in Vienna, and French renewable energy infrastructure fund manager RGREEN INVEST. Renalfa IPP is one of the leading investors and developers of renewable energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe, with more than 806 MW of operational generating assets and over 1 GWh of energy storage in operation. Renalfa IPP has another over 1,1 GW of generating projects and more than 3,5 GWh of BESS in the final stages of construction and development. The company is active in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia.
