Powerlink has completed the connection of the 162 MW Columboola solar PV farm to the Powerlink’s network in Australia, which involved building two kilometers of transmission line and various upgrades at the existing Columboola Substation.
The solar farm consists of 417,000 PV modules on a 1,009 acre of land located between Chinchilla and Miles, in Queensland. It is expected to generate approximately 440 GWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power the equivalent of 100,000 households.
The Columboola Solar farm will be soon on its final testing and commissioning phase. The project was constructed by Sterling & Wilson. CS Energy, a government-owned electricity generation company, has agreed to purchase 100% of the Columboola Solar farm renewable energy generation for the first 10 years of operation.
