The Government of Portugal has awarded new solar energy developments with a total capacity of 670 MW at a record low price of EUR11.14 (US$13.16) per MWh in one of the offerings.
The solar auction was set at a ceiling price of EUR41.54 (US$49.45) and EUR41.73 (US$49.672) per MWh that depends on the lots. South Korean firm Hanwha Q Cells has secured up six lots for a total of 315 MW.
About 483 MW of the awarded projects will be supplemented with energy storage facilities. Other capacities were awarded through system compensation and contract for differences modalities.
