The governments of Pakistan and Russia have signed an MoU to conduct a feasibility study for an undersea gas pipeline. Gazprom is overseeing the implementation.

If the pipeline is deemed to be feasible, the project may be worth $10 billion.

The pipeline will export natural gas controlled by Russia in Iran to Gwadar Port on Pakistan’s western coast and, eventually, onto India. The project would eventually involve four countries — Pakistan, Iran, Russia and India.

The purpose of the MoU is to assist in providing support for the realisation of the project. The results of the Feasibility Study will be used for the decision for the future of the project.
