New York State Public Service Commission has voted unanimous approval to grant the Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for the 132 MW South Fork offshore wind farm project near Long Island proposed by renewable energy developer Ørsted.
The development approval is needed for the construction and operation of the wind farm.
Ørsted, in partnership with Eversource Energy, has commissioned Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA to supply turbines for the wind farm. The project will consist of 15 wind turbines with the export cable to be installed at Beach Lane in Wainscott.
The project is expected to be commissioned by 2023,
