Odfjell Oceanwind and its partner Source Galileo have announced that they will compete for the seabed lease for the Utsira Nord offshore floating wind project west of Haugesund in Norway.
The three 500 MW seabed leases are meant to foster technology and innovation in an effort to reduce the cost of energy from floating offshore wind. By 2028, Utsira Nord could potentially be developed.
The seabed licenses will be awarded on the basis of qualitative criteria, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has recently submitted its proposed criteria for award. Odfjell Oceanwind and Source Galileo have both contributed to the hearing round.
