The Government of Niger is set to build a solar photovoltaic facility at the Gorou Banda site next to the 100 MW thermal power plant.
The solar project will have a generating capacity between 30 MWp to 60 MWp. It will be developed with an estimated investment of US$70 million. French Development Agency (AFD) will support the project through a EUR23.5 million loan while the European Union with EUR5 million.
The project is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2021.
