The 86 MW phase II of Lincoln Gap wind farm near Port Augusta, developed by Nexif Energy, receives notice to proceed with the construction.

The second stage entails the construction and operation of Senvion's 24 3.6M140 turbines turbines adding up a total of 126 MW. The full project will produce 212 MW, which is enough electricity to power approximately 155,000 homes and will offset some 680,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The project will feed into the State’s electricity grid via the ElectraNet transmission network.

Lincoln Gap wind farm also includes installation of a 10 MW utility scale battery system to integrate the facility's output, with potential expansion capability to utilize battery technology advancements.

The CEFC and specialist infrastructure debt investment manager Westbourne Capital have committed AUD160 million (US$113.8 million) in finance to construct Stage II of the project.

The Lincoln Gap Wind Farm has secured long-term commitments for purchase of Large-Scale Generation Certificates by ERM Power and two long-term energy offtake agreements with Snowy Hydro.

Construction of Lincoln Gap Stage II is expected to begin early in 2019, providing local employment opportunities.
