After the 800 MW Clarke Creek wind farm in Central Queensland, Australia, received a federal government approval under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Protection Act (EPBC Act), the major project can move into the next phase in 2019.
The wind farm project had already received approval for a 400 MW solar park with a large battery at the beginning of the year. In total, the site, which combines wind and solar energy with a battery storage system, will be able to supply around 590,000 households with renewable energy. The cost of the project is over AUD1.5 billion (US$1 billion).
The project will be implemented by Lacour Energy and Goldwind, who who formed a partnership. As a wind turbine manufacturer, Goldwind will supply up to 195 wind turbines for the project and manage the construction work.
The 800 MW wind project is located 150 km north west of Rockhampton and 150km south of Mackay in the Isaac Shire and Livingstone Shire areas.
