The NeuConnect consortium, composed of Meridiam, Allianz Capital Partners, and Kansai Electric Power, has chosen Siemens Energy for cabling and converter station works for the energy link between the UK and Germany.
Siemens Energy will provide the project's turnkey high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system and will construct two converter stations, one in England's Isle of Grain and the other in Germany's Wilhelmshaven region. The Prysmian Group is in charge of the 725-kilometer interconnector's design, manufacture, installation, testing, and commissioning.
The two contracts were awarded following strong market interest in NeuConnect's procurement program. NeuConnect is expected to reach a financial close in the coming weeks, with key contracts in place.
