Neoen has signed a 30 MW/78 MWh tolling agreement with Uniper for its Arneburg Battery in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The contract is due to commence in 2027 and has a duration of 7 years. During this period Uniper will have full control of the charging and discharging of the battery while Neoen will continue to manage the asset’s operation and maintenance. Uniper intends to optimize the asset across all revenue market channels from ancillary grid services to the wholesale market.

Arneburg Battery represents Neoen’s first project in Germany and is currently under construction, with commercial operation targeted for 2026. Since 2023, Neoen has been actively advancing battery storage developments across Germany through its offices in Karlsruhe and Hamburg, building a robust pipeline of projects. Drawing on its extensive global experience in the development and operation of large-scale battery systems, the company aims to establish itself as a key participant in the German energy storage market. Neoen is a global leader in battery storage, with a total portfolio of 2.7 GW / 8.1 GWh either operational or under construction.

Uniper, headquartered in Düsseldorf, operates in over 40 countries and plays a significant role in Europe’s energy markets, supported by its flexible power generation fleet and its position as a leading gas trader, particularly across Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
