The Independent Planning Commission of the State of New South Wales has granted planning approval to Neoen's 350 MW solar photovoltaic and energy storage hybrid project planned in the Riverina region.
The 350 MW Culcairn project will have up to one million solar photovoltaic panels with single-axis trackers mounted on steel frames and a climate-controlled battery energy storage system of 100 MW/200 MWh. Neoen plans to invest about AUD636 million (US$485 million) for the project.
Once operational, the project will be connected to the 330 kV Transgrid transmission line through a substation on the site of the project.
