Neoen has launched the construction of a 440 MWp, 350 MWac Culcairn Solar Farm located in Wiradjuri country, 45 km north of Albury in the Riverina region of New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
Neoen initiates a collaboration with Bouygues Construction Australia and Bouygues Energies & Services Australia through an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) turnkey contract, marking the commencement of construction for the Culcairn Solar Farm. Neoen plans to secure the majority of the electricity produced by the Culcairn Solar Farm through power purchase agreements. The solar facility will be backed by a Long-Term Energy Services Agreement which has recently been awarded by Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) Services.
The project is anticipated to generate sufficient energy to supply power to 160,000 homes, more than doubling the residential count in the Riverina region of New South Wales. It includes the option to incorporate a 100 MW battery at a future date. The solar farm will create over 400 construction jobs and is set to be operational in 2026.
