French renewable energy, Neoen has selected Prodiel Proyectos de Instalaciones Electricas, SL from Spain and Synohydro Corporation of China Ltd as its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to build the 357 MW El Llano solar photovoltaic project in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. This project was one of those awarded during the third Mexican public renewable energy auction, held in November 2017, with a contract to sell the electricity produced at less than US$19 per megawatt / hour.

The Prodiel and Synohydro Corp. will have a Full EPC scope including the photovoltaic plant, the 400kV elevating substation, a 3-kilometer High Voltage line and a maneuvering substation, as well as the O & M during the first 20 years of life of the plant.

Construction is set to begin this year with more than one million solar panels expected to be put up at an 800-hectare site, and expected to be operational in 2020.

In its 800 hectares, more than one million solar panels will be installed, which will generate a total of 880.5 GWh of energy per year, equivalent to an annual consumption of 441,000 Mexican families. In addition, it is estimated that this project will avoid emissions of more than 500,000 tons of CO2 per year.
