The Mexican government has inaugurated the 396 MW Energia Eolica del Sur wind park located in Oaxaca.
The facility, consists of 132 turbines, was developed by Mitsubishi Mexico in coordination with local funds Fonadin and Balam and required more than US$1.2 billion in investments. The wind project is expected to offset about 567,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
With the completion of the wind project, it becomes the 28th wind park in the state and elevates the regional wind capacity to 2,756 MW divided between a total of 1,583 wind turbines. This project focuses on the regional educational sector and benefits more than 1,200 students and teachers.
