Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a unit of Nel ASA, and Statkraft AS have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to jointly develop a hydrogen facility in Norway with a capacity of up to 50 MW.

The two companies will build an alkaline cell plant for the Celsa Armeringsstal AS located at Mo Industrial Park in the industrial city of Mo i Rana. The project seeks to replace the reliance of the steel mill on fossil fuels.

The Hydrogen Hub Mo project is set to be operational by 2023.
