Naturgy Energy Group, formerly Gas Natural Fenosa, announced that it will finance a total of BRL265 million (USD 70.5 million) in green bonds to two solar parks with a 68 MW combined capacity. The funds are intended for the construction of Sertão I Solar and Sobral I Solar projects located in the region of Piauí, in the north of Brazil.

The BRL135 million bond for the Sobral I Solar photovoltaic (PV) farm has a term of 15 years and three months. Sertao I Solar receives BRL130 million and has a term of 14 years and three months.

Banco Santander and Itau banks acted as underwriters.

Brazil’s energy regulatory authority, ANEEL, approved the start of commercial operations for the projects in September 2017.
