Macquarie Asset Management has closed a EUR43 million (US$49.74 million) debt investment in a concentrated solar power plant in Spain owned by Q-Energy.
The bespoke, long-dated, debt financing provided by Macquarie’s Green Energy Debt Fund and other managed funds was negotiated on a bilateral basis with Q-Energy. The investment has been made by funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management on behalf of institutional investors and builds on previous financing agreements with Q-Energy, including a EUR90 million (US$104 million) debt investment in a 120 MW portfolio of concentrated solar power plant announced in June.
The 50 MW capacity parabolic trough solar plant is located in Andalucia. Operational since 2012, the solar plant produces enough electricity each year to power the equivalent of more than 34,000 homes and avoid 45,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.
