Luxcara and GreenH have made a final investment decision for its 30 MW hydrogen project located at Langstranda in Bodø municipality, Norway.

In the first phase, the Bodø Hydrogen Project will feature a 20 MW electrolyzer with the capability to produce up to 3,100 tons of green hydrogen annually. In the second phase, an additional 10 MW electrolyzer may be installed, increasing the total capacity to 30 MW and boosting annual hydrogen production to approximately 4,800 tons. In December 2024, Luxcara and GreenH secured NOK 129 million (US$ 11 million) in funding from Enova, allowing them to proceed with the final investment decision. Preparatory on-site work is already in progress, and commercial operation is expected to begin in 2026. The hydrogen will be supplied to the Vestfjorden ferry connection, operated by Torghatten Nord, which is set to commence operations in 2026. This facility will be the first to directly supply pressurized green hydrogen to a maritime vessel.

Luxcara acquired a majority stake in the Bodø project company in early 2024. The Norwegian project developer, GreenH AS, will retain the minority stake.
