Lightsource BP, a unit of BP Plc, has started the construction of a 13 MW solar photovoltaic facility in Sacramento, California.
The 13 MW (16.5 MW dc) Wildflower Solar I project will be built about 10 miles north of Sacramento. Once operational, it can generate enough power for the consumption of up to 2,600 homes through the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).
Lightsource has secured a US$20 million financing package with tax equity from Guardian Life Insurance Company of America via its partnership with the Rockwood Group to support the project. National Westminster Bank PLC, or NatWest, has acted as the senior project finance debt lender for the project.
The project is expected to be operational before the end of 2020.
