Infigen Energy has announced the acquisition of 109 MW Smithfield Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) in Western Sydney, New South Wales for AUD60 million (US$42 million) in cash. Additional AUD14 million (US$9.7 million) is to be paid, subject to the expansion of the capacity to 123 MW.
The acquisition is expected to facilitate a substantial increase in contracting into higher priced, longer tenor and more stable markets, delivering higher quality of earnings.
