IFC and IDB Invest are collaborating with Hydrogène de France (HDF) and Rubis to support the development of the 50 MW Renewstable Barbados solar project with green hydrogen and lithium-ion battery storage in St. Phillips, Barbados.

Through a Collaboration Agreement, IFC will conduct a solar resource evaluation, geotechnical and hydrological studies, and environmental life-cycle assessment, thereby enhancing the bankability of the 2023 construction project for foreign investors. IDB Invest has supported a part of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, which will adhere to internationally recognized IFC standards.

Renewable Barbados is intended to house the largest sheep farm on the island, contributing to the country's energy and food security.
