Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives (IEA), has secured a contract to build a 300 MW Thunderhead Wind Energy Center in Nebraska, from Invenergy LLC, the developer of the project.
The construction of the project has already started in November and scheduled to be completed in 2020. The project will consist of 108 General Electric turbines that will be installed in Antelope and Wheeler counties, in Nebraska. The power output will be delivered into the Nebraska power gid, once operational.
The contract also includes the construction of project access roads and turbine foundations, as well as installation of the turbines.
In September, WEC Energy Group agreed to buy an 80% stake in the scheme for about US$338 million.
