Iberdrola has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of the Ararat Wind Farm from Partners Group and OPTrust in Victoria, Australia.

With this acquisition, the Group expands its footprint to five Australian states—New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia. The 242-MW Ararat Wind Farm, which has been operating since 2017, becomes Iberdrola’s largest wind facility in the country and its first owned generation asset in Victoria. The deal strengthens Iberdrola’s capacity to supply electricity to its portfolio of business customers using its own generation assets, while also marketing a substantial share of the plant’s output through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ensuring stable and predictable revenues in a state aiming to achieve 95% renewable energy by 2035.

Iberdrola has established itself as a major energy player in Australia with more than 2,500 MW of installed capacity, largely spread across onshore wind farms, solar power plants, and battery storage projects. The company has also recently expanded into the country’s electricity transmission sector through the VNI West (Victoria to New South Wales Interconnector West), a significant project designed to link the states of Victoria and New South Wales.
