Permit Granted for 436.5 MW Onshore Wind Farm in Australia

RES has received federal approval for its 436.5 MW Tarong West onshore wind farm located approximately 30 km west of Kingaroy and 8 km north-west of Kumbia, within the South Burnett Regional Council area.

The wind farm consists ofb wind turbines and spans approximately 17,500 ha. With an investment value of AUD776.1 million (US$553.6 million), the facility has the capacity to produce enough power to supply 230,000 homes annually.

Stanwell holds the exclusive rights to negotiate a long-term commercial offtake arrangement for power from the Tarong West Wind Farm through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The project supports Stanwell’s strategy to deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable energy through a balanced portfolio of owned and managed energy. It will also build on Stanwell’s long-standing presence in the region, with the Tarong power stations continuing to play a critical role in Queensland’s energy system.
