Swiss energy company H2 Energy Europe is planning a gigawatt-scale green hydrogen plant in Denmark, as the Nordic country advances plans to decarbonize its economy through the massive use of green hydrogen in hard-to-abate sectors such as road transport.
The municipality of Esbjerg has just sold an 11-hectare plot of land to H2 Energy Europe for the construction of a 1 GW electrolyzer to produce green hydrogen, which is planned to be fed with electricity from offshore wind farms. The plant will produce up to 90,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. It will then be processed further to produce e-fuels that can be used directly in trucks and other heavy land-based transport.
