Belarus has secured around US$40 million foreign investment for the development of its largest wind farm, a 25 MW project near the village of Veleshkovichi (Liozno District of Vitebsk Region).
The project will be financed by Guris Construction and Engineering Co. Inc. It will provide energy to about 20 thousand households in the region.
The Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry has approved an agreement dated August 30 for the sale of the pre-investment asset.
The construction of the wind farm is planned to begin in 2020, after the investor will develop detailed design documentation. It is expected that the operation of the wind farm over the next 20 years will reduce more than 500 thousand tons of CO2 emissions.
