Swiss energy supplier Groupe E is partnering with German manufacturer H-Tec Systems to build a hydrogen electrolysis plant in western Switzerland with the aim of producing up to 300 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
The project with a capacity of 1 MW will feature H-Tec's electrolyzer ME450/1400 which has a capacity to produce up to 450 kg of hydrogen daily. It will be powered with renewable energy through a 2 MW hydropower plant that will be built on Schiffenen in the canton of Fribourg.
The construction of the project is expected to start by the second half of 2022 and is targeted for commissioning in 2023.
